A vigilant citizen noticed people cutting through yards, police located the people and recovered a gun, a second gun was found the following day
Police arrested a 22 year old man after a vigilant citizen called police after noticing suspicious people cutting through yards on Thursday, May 25.
Around 10:27 PM a watchful neighbor called police to report three male Hispanics, with brown or black hair, wearing windbreakers or hoodies, who were seen walking through their neighbor's yard on the 3500 block of N Oriole.
Police responded and quickly located the three suspects in the 3300 block of N Ottawa and detained them for questioning. As police were conducting their investigation, they received a delayed call of three males breaking into a garage, however police had already detained the suspects who were trying to leave in a vehicle.
Police located a gun on one of the subjects and arrested 22 year old Zachary Christian who was charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon. Christian was not detained in Cook County Jail on bail and exact bail information was not immediately available.
The following morning, around 8:30 AM, police were called to the 3500 block of N Oriole for a found gun in a yard. The gun was reportedly found in the same area where the suspicious subjects were seen checking yards. No one has been charged with possessing that gun as of this writing.
Readers are reminded that people who arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
They leave out the part where it was his house that he was “cutting through” and that he has a FOID card and was on his property when detained.
