Teen Shot In Irving Park After Two Cars Exchange Gunfire
A male was shot and numerous businesses were damaged
Police responded to numerous calls of shots fired in the Irving Park neighborhood around 3:05 AM early Friday morning. 17th district officer received numerous calls of shots fired stretching from Montrose and California to Kedzie and Irving Park.
Police initially found nothing on scene. Witnesses told police that a gray or black SUV and a red sedan began shooting at each other at the Shell gas station located at 2816 W Irving Park. Additionally, police found a multiple homes in the area with bullet holes in it and two additional businesses. The first business is located at 3017 W Irving Park and the second at 3023 W Irving Park and some homes along Irving Park, including two on the 4000 block of N Francisco.
Finally, a 17 year old male walked into Swedish Covenant Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. The 17 year old male was extremely uncooperative with police and refused to give details of what happened. The supposed victim was reportedly in good condition with a graze wound to the head. Police reported recovering 15-20 shell casings near the 2800 block of W Irving Park and an additional 7-10 on the 3000 block of W Irving Park. Police also reported recovering 9mm, .45 caliber and .223 rifle rounds, indicating at least 3 different guns being fired.
