Woman Shot and Killed In Albany Park Sunday
A woman was shot in an apartment, a person of interest is in custody
Police responded to a call of a person shot around midnight Sunday morning on the 4500 block of N Albany.
When police arrived on scene at the home, police found a woman who had been shot on the left side of the head. As of this writing, the woman was in critical condition and was taken to Masonic Hospital for treatment. Though police were unable to determine an exact age, the woman is estimated to be between 40-50 years of age.
Police placed a person of interest into custody and recovered one shell casing and recovered two firearms. Per preliminary reports, it seems the shooting occured in a basement apartment of a home. The circumstances of the shooting however, remain unclear.
Charges are pending and police are continuing their investigation at this time. If there is an update it will be either posted here or on our Twitter page.
UPDATE: The woman was pronounced at Masonic Hospital at 1240 A.M. According to police, two males were engaged in a verbal altercation and a gun was discharged during the altercation. One shot was fired that struck the woman in the head fatally wounding her.
